The Kentucky State Fair takes place in Louisville, KY from August 14 through August 23, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. Kentucky's State Fair has been a popular agricultural event for over 100 years. Family oriented entertainment makes the fair a popular summertime festivity. The fair features livestock, horses, midway rides, festival food, concerts, exhibits, competitions and blue ribbons. Following is additional information about some of the special events, including the horse shows and concerts. World's Championship Horse ShowThis prestigious horse show takes place August 17-18. World champion saddlebred horses are crowned in different devisions during this horse show, which presents over 2,000 horses. People come from all over the world with their horses to compete for more than $1 million in premiums. Competition categories include saddlebreds, roadsters, road ponies, hackney ponies and saddle seat equitation. State Fair Miniature Horse ShowThe Kentucky State Fair Miniature Horse Show takes place August 21-23. Equestrian minis compete in over 60 classes, based on size, gender and age. Categories include Roadsters, Pleasure Driving, Costume, Showmanship and Children's divisions. Draft Horse PullDraft Horses give an amazing show of strength at the Draft Horse Pull ion August 24. ConcertsThe following concerts require the purchase of an additional ticket. Tickets purchased ten days before the concert include admission to the fair. Tickets purchased less than ten days before the concert do not include fair admission. The lower prices on the listings below are for tickets that are purchases in advance, on the phone or on the Internet.
Kentucky State Fair Free ConcertsThe free concerts at Cardinal Stadium begin at 8 pm and are free with a paid state fair gate admission. Doors open into Cardinal Stadium at 6:30 pm.
AdmissionTickets are Adults $8, Children (3-12) $4, Seniors (55+) $4 Discount admission tickets and Thrillway ride tickets are available with a Kroger Plus card at Kroger Food Stores throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana until midnight on August 13, 2008. Parking is $6 per car. Location and HoursThe Kentucky State Fair runs from August 14 through August 23, 2008. The fair is located at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY.
